Project Information:
Given the opportunity to propose a unique design in the small, picturesque village of Hemingford Abbots, located on the southern bank of the great river Ouse, PiP designed two exceptional quality and energy efficiency proposals with little to no visual impact on the immediate character of the village.
Taking advantage of the strategical position behind the mature trees from the site and inspired by the riverside setting. PiP designed the boathouse, a proposal which reaches the feeling of being hidden in its surroundings and their expansive views open onwards to the river and beyond to Hemingford Meadows. In terms of materiality, PiP aimed to provide an illusion of a floating habitable, therefore, the materials chosen were zinc standing seam with vertical timber cladding; and expansive glazing with slimline frames to reach the design narrative.
