Project Information:
The proposal was designed to respect the local character of the village. A new site access to Clarke’s Lane is provided, ensuring direct pedestrian access from the site to the wider village.
Careful attention was been given to the proposed public open space running through the centre of the site, where we proposed a landscaped pedestrian walkway. The public open space connects Hinton Way to the existing Oak tree and through to Clarkes Lane, providing a continuous biodiverse, rich corridor through the site. As the predominate feature, all units have been designed to address this space, providing natural surveillance and a sense of place.
We proposed a mix of 2, 3 and 4 bedroom units within a range of detached, semi and terrace two-storey forms. Among the 30 proposed units, 9 were provided as affordable tenure. Of these, 2 are shared ownership and 7 affordable rent. These are a combination of 2 and 3 bedroom properties and are intended to be tenure blind.
The dwellings were designed to be highly sustainable; integrating rigorous energy standards, employing highly efficient air source heat pumps, and implementing rooftop arrays of solar photovoltaic panels. Our client, Etopia Ltd, constructed the dwellings utilising their off-site modular construction methods, to reduce carbon emissions by up to 39% when compared with traditional construction techniques.
