Project Information:
PiP were approached by our client to renovate and extend their existing property on Birds Pasture Farm, in Dry Drayton - a rural village in South Cambridgeshire.
The result was an elegant design intervention where building and nature work harmoniously to create a desirable place to call home; that meets the demands of modern living and provides a source of daily inspiration. The renovation was sensitive - retaining the existing character of the house, and the extension was contemporary in nature. Finished in beautifully-aging Siberian Larch cladding, the flat roofed extension, which also doubles as a bedroom terrace, frames tranquil views to the wonderfully landscaped garden - which features a natural swimming pool and diverse mix of planting.
A lightweight bris-soleil extends from the wall plate to provide solar shading to the ground-floor living space, helping to regulate internal temperature and improve occupant comfort. Above this, a delicate metal balustrading grows from the parapet to create a visually interesting detail that emphasises verticality and elevational cohesion.
