The design set out to create a modern dwelling approach within the area of Kinnaird Way that addresses the constraints of the site whilst being sympathetic to the existing context and ensuring the longevity of the buildings.
At ground level, the entrance door is set back from the road and located on the northern elevation. Internal spaces have been designed with flexible family use in mind, with open dining, kitchen and living areas on the ground floor and bedroom accommodation at first floor level and within the loft space.
Materials were chosen to reflect those found in the area but with a modern interpretation. The principal elevations are cladded in pre-patinated zinc clad and rendered under a pre-patinated zinc roof and aluminium composite window and doors.
To mitigate the impact on the residential amenity of the surrounding neighbours, high level roof lights were included within the design which prevents overlooking of the neighbouring gardens. Corner windows were provided on the front elevations providing dual aspect, contributing to the natural surveillance of the street by way of providing an active frontage.
